Finding Shelter

Loving memorizing scripture this year! It really is life to me. The verse I am meditating on for this two weeks is Psalm 91:1 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty".

Love that! Love it!!

Dwells in the shelter of the Most High. Not comes and goes. Not on an as needed basis. But dwelling there. I want to dwell there. Live there. And it's not just any old place, it is in the shelter of the Most High.

What will I find there, what will you find there? We will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He covers us. Everywhere we turn we will see His shadow going out around us. That scripture holds truth for each one of us. No matter our circumstances. No matter how hard life is or how wonderful life is. We need to dwell in His shelter. I don't want to just learn a verse and think "how cool" I want to claim it for my life. I want to know the truth of it, believe it and live it.

Praying that I will start dwelling with the Lord more. He desires to give me rest. He is still bringing beauty from ashes in my life. I would love to hear how you have seen Him bring beauty from ashes in your life, if you have something to share.

Let's start dwelling in the shelter of the MOST HIGH!!

Boy do I have something to share!! Beauty from ashes.. I just love it.

Well my childhood should have destroyed me and the anxiety that developed Satan wanted to use it to destroy me but was he WRONG. He has used that pain for me to be desperate for the LORD and his continued work in my life.
Like I learned in Esther about the reversal of destiny well that is my life story. GOD did not cause that pain but he has used it for me to draw closer to him and for me to know from the very depth of my soul that he is ALL I need. He is it, he alone can fill those places that Satan has tried to destroy! Oh praise him, he is so worthy of my praise. Whoop, whoop!!

Hi Sheryl,
Thank you for sharing and for your thoughts about one of my favorite scriptures that I have committed to memory.
This scripture and others were given to me by God when I went through a very trying time in my life. I committed them to memory and would quote them often and began to study them and know really what they meant and how to apply them to my situation. What an awesome God we serve!!! I would like to wish you and your family a very blessed and happy Resurrection Sunday.

Short and sweet, just like you. Well, I don't know if you are short as I've not met or seen you in full.

Love this scripture.

Aren't you memorizing like a whole chapter in Habbakuk? I've referenced you doing this in my small group but I could never remember what book or chapter. I thought you were doing this as part of the Beth Moore memorization. It seems like the book/chapter you chose had 24 verses one for each week of memorization. Let me know which book/chapter it is.

Dear Sheryl,
I just read this post and found myself "nodding" and "smiling". You definitely "get it".
I have a patient named Angela and for some reason we "clicked" immediately. My first encounter with her was in the OB clinic when she and her husband came in for prenatal care with their first pregnancy four or five years ago. Her husband had a disease that would eventually destroy his liver. In our pediatric clinic, we continued to care for Angela and her daughter and later her son. We followed her husband's progress as he had a liver transplant and did well. Yesterday, Angela called our office to tell us that her husband was in ICU and the doctors told her there was nothing else that could be done. She said to me on the phone " I am not ready to stop the life support". I said I know. You just want to pray for a miraculous healing or for him to die in his sleep. She said "How did you know?"
This morning, Angela became a widow and a single mother to two small children. It will be devastatingly hard BUT I know that God will hold her in the "Shelter of His arms"
Praising God that He will NEVER leave us or forsake us.

Sheryl,
I too love that verse! In the Amplified Bible it reads, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty (whose power no foe can withstand)."

I have prayed that verse so many times in my life -- especially the part about remaining stable and fixed!

I appreciate your insight into this verse and your determination to live in it! Thanks for sharing your heart with all of us -- and thanks for stopping by my blog -- I so appreciate you taking the time to read it and leave a comment!

You are are a very special lady and you are in my prayers!

Sheryl thanks for visiting me. I love your blog and am going to become a follower:) My beauty from ashes story is just how God has directed every single aspect of my life. From directing my path to find my husband to leading me to my painting passion and now blogging. It is amazing how if you listen and just wait, He will show you what to do with your life. I am so grateful for His hand of guidance and His sweet pushes in the right direction.

You have a way of saying things that just resonates.

I don't have anything to add, mostly because there are two boys pulling on my pants and screaming MAMA (literally) as we "speak."

But I wanted to say that you resonate :)

Hi Sheryl. I had a dream last night and feel lead to tell you about it...cause it has to do with you. The dream was:

I was at your house and asked to use your restroom, and had to go through your bedroom to get to it. While I was walking through your bedroom I saw sweaters of all sorts of colors laying on your bed, floor, and chair/chairs. The one that there was the most of was the color red. In dreams that the Lord gives, the color red means wisdom, and a bed means intimacy. I truly believe that God is blessing you with wisdom right now as you become more intimate in your relatinship with Him. I pray this word from the Lord blesses you sweet and dear sister! Love ya girl! Hope your Easter was a blessed one!

Nicole

I just went and looked on my dream card and red also means: anointing and power. Just wanted to share that with you. It could be that God is giving you all three at this time, but I believe you will know through the Holy Spirit what you should know about what this color represents for you!!! Dear Father, I pray for your wisdom, power and annointing to be strong upon Sheryl's life at this moment and in the days to come!!! In Jesus Precious Name! Amen!
