Stalled. Need a Favor

Stalled. Completely stalled in my walk with the Lord.

Friends and I are reading through C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters again and discussing it. Yesterday I said that there are so many times that I don't even bother to read my Bible because I am only doing it to "get through" it. Then I realized that I was letting satan win. I need to be reading my Bible (out loud) no matter what!! It is alive & active and there is no way that I can be speaking the Living Word and not be changed.

Here is where I ask a favor of you. Would you leave me a scripture reference. I will be looking them up and speaking them out loud. Knowing that God is behind all of this...I can't wait to see where He sends me.

You all mean more to me than I can even express. These past three years would have been unbearable without you. Thank you!!

Excited to start reading,

Nehemiah 4:14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, "Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied."

Luke 1:38 "And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.'..."

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am sure that neither death no life, no angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Don't let satan lie to you...don't let him win. Love you!!!

You know...I feel exactly the same way... I completely understand what you are saying. And, for me, it is, I believe, as a result of a long difficult season that has just left my body feeling the effects of the stress and pressure of "life changes"...

The only thing I keep hearing in my soul is "rest". And so, I am.
Resting and keeping myself free from un-neccessary pressure. Pryaing for God to heal and restore....ME.

I will pray for you. May the Lord grant what you have desired.

Oh Sweet Sheryl, there are so many I could write here...but this is the one that I start with Everyday!
"The Lord is My strength, My Personal Bravery, and My Invincible Army. He makes my feet like Hinds feet, and will make me WALK, not stand still in terror, but WALK and make Spiritual Progress, upon my High Places of Trouble, Suffering, and Responsibility!"(Habakkuk 3:19)
and then there is Eph. 6:10-18 The Message.. this is the one I prayed when Karen was in the state of depression and dispair!!! If you don't have The Message.. go to Scripture Search... and get it!!! Post it where you can see it every chance you get!!
If you need to chat, let me know when you will be on FB, and I will make sure to be there too!!
Praying for and With You!!

I think we all at some time (or maybe many times) in our lives come to this place of dryness.

Psalm 142: 1-3a

I cry aloud to the Lord. I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy. I pour out my complaint before him; before him I tell my trouble. When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way.

This morning I meditated on John 15:1-17. I don't know if this would help you or not, but I thought I'd share what I was reading! Apart from Him, you can do nothing! Fortunately, He wants you to do much more!

Here are 2 from my 2009 SSMT:

Philippians 4:4-5 (Message)
Celebrate God all day, everyday. I mean revel in Him. Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them to see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!

Exodus 14:14 NIV
The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Last night I was doing homework from Beth's study A WOMAN'S HEART, GOD'S DWELLLING PLACE and the scriptures were about finding shelter under God's wings. This morning I checked the blog of a friend I meant at the SSMT Celebration and she had written about the same thing. I think you would like her blog Sheryl. www.the leakingwindow.blogspot.com

You are in my prayers as always
Love, Linda

The first that comes to my mind is Proverbs 3:4-6. 1 John 4:4; Hebrews 13:5-6.
Please know I am praying for you, as you have done so many times for me in my need. I am so blessed by your friendship!
Praying for you and with you!

Boy, do I relate! How wonderful you've chosen to do what I read just this morning Lysa TerKeurst wrote about, having friends support and speak truth to you! Anyway, here's one I love, Zeph 3:17.

"The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing."

The idea that God Himself will sing over us is breathtaking to me.

Dry spells come to each of us. I'm not sure why, but they do. Whenever I've had one, I always pray: Lord, make me willing to be willing. The log-jam usually breaks in days or weeks.

Here's what I know; no matter WHAT we experience, it's meant to equip us to help another experiencing that same thing ...

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5

2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16-18

Also, from Luke 12:48... "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." -- many hear this and think of being blessed abundantly in "positive" ways, but I firmly believe that this also applies to our most difficult trials in life -- we are entrusted to take the blessings and the trials we are given in abundance and glorify Him with them.

I know that you will use these difficult times to bring Him glory... I will be praying as you walk through this season...

Praying for you sister!

Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know. Jer 33:3

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Phil 4:6-9

I'm a new reader. When I saw this request tonight, I asked the Lord to show me a reference for you, because He knows you and loves you. I do not know why He gave me this one, but here it is:

"Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way -- in all your speaking and in all your knowledge, because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful." 1 Corinthians 1:3-9

Good morning Sheryl-

I have been in that place so many times. Our enemy loves it. You are already ahead of the game just by the fact that you are aware of his tactics.

This is the verse I took to bed with me last night from "The Inheritance" Study by Beth Moore. And it goes:

"The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance" Psalm 16:6 ESV

Have a blessed weekend.

Sheryl, I am with you. I have been going through a dry season, too. Not sure why? But, I will give you a couple of verses that have always been my favorites. Proverbs 4:18 and Psalm 18:35. Oh and one more Zephaniah 3:16(use the NIV for this verse it words it beautifully).

Thinking of you and praying!

The Gnostic Gospel of Truth

"Until the moment when they who are passing through all these things... awaken, they see nothing because the dreams were nothing. It is thus that they who cast ignorance from them like sleep do not consider it to be anything, nor regard its properties to be something real, but they renounce them like a dream in the night and they consider the knowledge of the father to be the dawn. It is thus that each has acted, as if asleep, during the time of ignorance, and thus a person comes to understand, as if awakening. And happy is the one who comes to himself and awakens. Indeed, blessings on one who has opened the eyes of the blind."

Blessings to you, Sheryl, on your journey toward peace and knowledge.

I read this last night and it felt like a lifeline was thrown out to me. I am struggling so deeply right now and am in such a bad place. I really feel like this has been a dose of hope. Thank you.

Last night trying to fall asleep I was reciting the 23rd Psalm, it's a classic, I know, but it was all I could think of at the time. I recommend Psalm 27, it is my favorite of all the Psalms.

Thank you again for your writing. I am going to do this in hopes it will help me break free from the funk.

Blessings!

Diana, the Good God struggles every day to make himself heard and make a more live connection with us. Sometimes we can be in such misery, though, that while it SEEMS as though we are hopefully listening we are in truth, not. It is a struggle to open our ears and hearts because while in these human bodies these senses are really all we know and trust.

The Good God doesn't always shout. Most of the time it's a soft gentle whisper. Some of the most profound bits of wisdom I've received from him have been whispered in my ear right as I'm falling to sleep.

I had a dream a few nights ago which deals with this very topic and blogged about it. It was a glimpse of heaven.

http://gnostic-unrest.blogspot.com/2010/07/watering-can-o-gnosis.html

I have felt such peace since then it's indescribable. Yes, my husband still gets on my nerves and I still feel agitated from everyday concerns(when did somebody last change the darn catbox?!!), but in the scheme of Long Term Love and communication with the divine I am sated. My cup is full. It overflows, and I offer a bit of that to you.

The Hermetic Prayer of Thanksgiving jumped out at me today as I prayed:

We thank you,
every soul and heart reaches out to you,
O name free of trouble,
honored with the designation god,
praised with the designation father.
To all and all things come fatherly kindness and affection and love.
And if the instruction is sweet and simple,
it grants us mind, word, and knowledge:
mind, that we may understand you,
word, that we may interpret you,
knowledge, that we may know you.
We are happy,
enlightened by your knowledge.
We are happy.
You have taught us about yourself.
We are happy.
While we were still in the body
you have made us divine through your knowledge.
The thanksgiving of those approaching you is only this:
that we know you.
We have known you,
light of mind.
Life of life,
we have known you.
Womb of every creature,
we have known you.
Womb pregnant with the nature of the father,
we have known you.
Eternal constancy of the father who conceives,
so have we worshiped your goodness.
We ask one favor:
we wish to be sustained in knowledge.
We desire one protection:
that we not stumble in this life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When we stumble it doesn't mean that he doesn't love us or isn't listening. It means that we're meant to pick ourselves back up when we have grown confident once again. However long that takes. And he'll be right there beside us.
Blessings in Hope and Knowledge,
Angel
1 Timothy 1:15-17 (New International Version)
15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Hi Sheryl:
One of my favorite 'go to' verses is:
Galatians 6:9 (The Message)
So let's not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don't give up, or quit.
There are just those times... and in those times I always need this promise.
Hugs!
