This Boy

I first wrote this post on August 17, 2009...I am reposting it and asking you to pray.

This boy...
chosen by God
marked for a purpose

Floundering
wondering
why and when will he know

"Don't we all have a purpose"?
Yes.
"I don't"
Oh yes son, you do!!

This boy...
with a heart toward God
yet a heart overcome with fear.

A heart filled with sadness
Loss
Feeling unworthy
Questions

"I pray but
He doesn't hear me
He doesn't bless me"

This boy
wonders what he did.
How do you tell him that he did nothing.

Wondering why his dad left
why is his mom sick
why can't he do better in school
Why?

No answers.

But this I know.

This boy...
is loved!

This boy...
loves!

This boy
may not feel blessed
but he IS a blessing.

This boy will be used by God.

He will have a story.

He will reach out.

This boy...
how I love him.

Thank you God, for entrusting him to me.

Praying with tears in my eyes. God has big plans for David. I claim Your promises that You will NEVER leave David or forsake him Father and You have plans for good not evil for his future.
Thank you for hearing our prayers and for letting us have the privilege to pray for those we love who may not be able to pray right now because of deep pain. Thank you for the healing in Sheryl's life and thank you for "connecting" me with her.
Amen. Linda

Dear Heavenly Father show yourself to this babe, and give his mother strength, and all the right answers to push him closer to You.

Amen.

Hang in there Cheryl.

I used to pray Philippians 1:9-11 for my David when he was in his early 20's. He's 33 now, and God has been so gracious to answer those prayers.

Now I pray it for you----
Our father, please let Sheryl's David's love for you abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that he may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. Amen.

Under the best of circumstances life can be tough for our teens; but add to their challenges an absentee Dad and other baffling things, and the confusion mounts.

My oldest, who is now 41, struggled mightily with self-worth and depression as a young man. Thus my mother's heart hurt for him. Sometimes it still does.

My heart aches for this boy, too. I'll pray!

Hugs,
Kathleen

Sheryl:

I popped over here from another blog and I'm so glad I did. I doubt that there is a mother anywhere who has not bent her knees and heart during the raising of our own kids. This post brought tears, and memories. And I am so glad you posted the picture. I stand with you in believing that God will sort through David's thoughts and make his heart strong in the days ahead. Sometimes there is nothing to do but pray, and that turns out to be the very best thing we can do.

Love,

Sonja

I just know God has wonderful things in store for your handsome son. He knows his heart. He knows his past and all that paths that his journey took him on, and He loves him more than he will ever know. It is a privilege to pray for him.

Dear Sheryl.....As a mom of a son my heart was touched so deeply by your words here.

I've prayed Ephesians 3:14-20 over my children in their formative years and was just this morning in prayer reminded to begin praying/confessing it over them diligently again. I love this scripture in the MSG translation....

"My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you (David) by his Spirit, not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength-that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you'll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ's love. Reach out and experience the breadth (David)! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. God can do anything, you know (David) - far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.

Praying this over David this day as I pray over my Chris, Laraine, Katie and Bryan!!

HE IS FAITHFUL!!

Love and Hugs! : ))

Cheryl,
You have such a tender heart for the Lord. Praying for your son today. Trusting that as he sees his mother's heart for the Lord, he too, would fall in love with Jesus with an unabandoned faith. "There is no fear in love." 1 John 4:18

And so glad that you were able to join a Bible study. I pray it is going well and God is filling your heart with His riches, encouragement and peace. Also, love the song you post a couple days ago!

Blessings,
Stacy

This has touched my heart so deeply...praying for your son in response from one mother's heart to another. Also praying for your peace of mind...sometimes we have to fully release to allow God to do what He needs to do.....it is not an easy thing....but God knows your heart!

Sheryl, You could have written this about my oldest son! He turns 16 next month and struggles with anxiety, confidence, self-worth and I'm pretty sure depression as well. (Depression & anxiety run in my family.) He just weighs on my heart. We just have to remember that God is in control and to give our boys over to Him through prayer and faith!
