New Thing

Yes, you are in the right place!! Don't you love it? Even if you don't, just say you do. My friends Kate and Heather over at Smitten Blog Designs were gracious enough to put up with me. They were incredible to work with!

It's time for new beginnings, so I thought I would start with an overhaul of The Perch.

My prayers for my family are changing. They are God directed now. (you know I tend to tell God what I think He should do and He really does know better) I have already seen incredible evidence of God's faithfulness just in the past 24 hours. He never ceases to amaze me.

It's hard to pray for people who have hurt you. Well, it's hard to pray with a pure heart. At least for me it has been. I am committing once again to praying Ephesians 1:17&18 for Don. I know his heart and it is one that wants so much to be a dad to his kids. Seeing the pain in the eyes of the kids, I know that his pain must be even deeper. Praying that God keeps my heart filled with compassion toward Don.

I am going to continue to try new things to push myself even when I am feeling symptomatic. It's hard - but it's a beginning! Put my feet in the lake today for the first time since the summer of 2006!! Amazing. Hoping to get to do lots more of that with David and Ellie. They are looking forward to having a bit more of their mom back.

My "bonus daughter" graduates from college next week. What a new beginning for her. Real life. A job. (or maybe more school?) She's scared, yet excited at the same time. Wish we could be there with her but it just isn't going to work out. She has a heart for the Lord and I pray that she would allow Him to direct her steps in this new path.

New beginnings are great!! Sure it is unknown. Sure sometimes they are painful. But if we remember who is allowing the new beginnings, we can look forward expectantly. I have always loved Isaiah 43:19, See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

HE (GOD) is making the way. I am excited for the new thing!!

Wow! I love the new look! And I especially love your desire to step into a new day and leave the old behind. That verse is very dear to me too, as the Lord gave it to me in a season when He was trying to get me to quit evaluating my worth based on my past. Isn't He soooo good!

Have a fantastic Mother's Day!

Looks terrific! I've noticed how everyone seems to have these beautiful customized blogs while I still have a blah template. I would like to change it but think I'll wait a bit. I have no thoughts as to what I want it to look like.

I'm proud of you for praying for your ex-husband! That must be hard, but hopefully, knowing that it will benefit your kids will make it easier to do.

Do you have a lake on your property? Oh, my hubby would be jealous! Have a beautiful Mother's Day!

Hey girl! Love the new look. It looks like olives on toothpicks - but that's not a bad thing. I love olives. Oh man, now I'm gonna need to go to the grocery store. Thanks.

I really think the new look is great! Change is good, although it may not be the change "we" want, surely HIS change is way far better than what "our" change would be.

Hoping you had a great day!

Sheryl, I for one, am so excited to read about your thoughts on new beginnings. I think God has great things in store for you and your family. Tunnels of darkness ALWAYS, eventually come to an end...and light appears. Your new blog look is so attactive! I like the little flowers and the colors that you chose. Keep pressing on!! Look at how many friends you have supporting and encouraging you.

What a beautiful "new" place. I caught up on your posts this morning and wanted to say that you are 110% correct...this is your new beginning. Fitting that you'd have a "new" look here too.

I've been on the scary side of a divorced life. And looking back now, it was such a HUGE part of making me who I am today. I have an empathy for women in this area that I can't begin to tell you.

Keep your eyes open. God is going to do some amazing things Sheryl. No longer will you be tied down with the anchor of "maybe we will get back together." You have been freed.

Sending you a great big hug.

Love, Joanne

I tried to respond to your e-mail this morning, but my e-mail was not working.

The thing that I love about this world of blogging is that as we go through these things we are able to see how truly NOT alone we are! And the fact that your journey in prayer is so parallel to mine brings great joy to my heart! So, no need to appologize for making your response about you!! :)

What is happening here IS an answer to the hard prayers like you are praying... sometimes it is very hard to do the right thing even when we know it is God, isn't it! So glad we have eachother!!!

I was on a spiritual retreat this weekend and one of the thing that came up was how to let go of your anger towards someone who has hurt you. It was recommended that you pray for this person for seven days. Heart wrenching prayers where you ask God to fulfill their every hope, their every desire, and their every wish. That God will work His plan in their life. I have been doing this and a burden has begun to be lifted. It sounds like you are already on this path... but thought I would encourage you further.

P.S. Loving the blog.
